Do You Feel Like Earning Money Has To Be Hard? It Doesn’t…

If I was being paid for something, I used to have to make it hard. This was a story and a belief for me that I carried for a long, long time. It didn’t matter what it was - I even discovered when asked the question: “If I were to pay you to make me a cup of tea, would it have to be hard?” “Yes”, I replied, "it absolutely would" - before I burst into tears at the realisation that holy shit, this belief has been at the forefront of most areas of my life for a very long time.

The same way that many people do, I learned when I was growing up that earning money had to be hard. Money was mentioned in the same sentence as stress, worry, arguments, and without any context to support this, my childish brain took on as a given that earning money has to be hard.

Notice that I say I learned this, rather than that I was taught it. No-one actively sat me down and told me ‘earning money has to be hard’ - but the experiences I witness, the behaviours I modelled, the view of money I learned was that. This isn’t about blaming people for what you do or don’t believe, but rather understanding that between the age of 0-7 you are modelling, taking on and mirroring all of the thoughts, beliefs, behaviours habits and patterns of your parents. That your parents were doing the best they could with what they had, and there was no intention behind what you now do or don’t believe. The most important part is that: you get to change it! They were never your stories or beliefs in the first place, so you get to release them and find supportive ones of your own - hoorah!

90% of your actions and behaviours are driven by what you think and believe in your unconscious mind - so whatever beliefs you hold unconsciously are going to be running the show. And that’s why it’s so important that you uncover them, bring awareness to them, release and change your unconscious programming so it actually supports you in whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.

If you imagine yourself as a computer, and you have the programme running in the background ‘earning money has to be hard’ - then this is going to show up in everything you do. Chances are you’ll either: a) avoid earning money for fear of it being hard, b) the more you earn the harder you will make it in order to justify it to yourself.

So what can you do to start loosening your belief of 'earning money is hard', and allowing more ease, flow and cashflow into your life?

Here are some steps to help you get started…

1. Write down what you learned about money growing up - from parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, society. It could be sayings you hear on repeat like ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’ or ‘we can’t afford it’ to seeing everything as a struggle or that money caused arguments. What did you see, witness, experience around the topic of money?

2. Look at your list and bring it to your conscious awareness. How does it make you feel? What realisations have you had? Whose stories are those? Where have they been showing up in your life and business?

3. What’s the positive opposite of those money stories? What would you like to believe instead?

4. What evidence can you find that the positive opposite is true? i.e. Richard Branson now earns his fortune while kicking back on his own private island. Or someone you know who earns money with ease. Or examples for you of when earning money has been easy.

Notice what comes up for you and continue looking for evidence of the positive opposite.

You have your very own unique set of beliefs and experiences, what’s right or wrong, what’s true or not, and they are all combined to make up your personal filter system that has made these things feel like ‘facts’ or ‘true’ in your world. But these are different for everyone - there are no two people on the entire planet that view the world in the exact same way . Which means that nothing is really true or false or right or wrong - you get to choose what you want to believe, and to make sure it serves you. There’s simply some rewiring and reprogramming of your unconscious mind to be done. You get to believe whatever you choose. You get to let go of old stories that make you feel like crap. You are in control of your mind and therefore your behaviour and results.

And that’s a very powerful place to be.

If you'd like to explore working together to crush the 'can't' in your head, to release the limits that are holding you back from the things you want, to let go of the old patterns and stories that are keeping you stuck, head over HERE.
